Who is Buzzworthy?
Actress and producer Briana Bender turns in an award-winning performance in the dramatic short film, The Voice Behind the Story, now streaming on Vimeo.
What is the premise of The Voice Behind the Story?
The storyline is described as: chronicling a young journalist on her journey from victim to crusader. Carrie (Bender) must confront the trauma from her past abusive relationship in order to tell the story that is in her heart, find her voice as a writer, and seek justice.
What else do we know about The Voice Behind the Story?
The film initially premiered on the festival circuit, earning Briana two Best Actress awards at the Best Actor Awards NY and NY International Film Awards.
To help get the project made, Briana turned to award-winning indie director-writer Paolo Pagliacolo and award-winning executive producer Jen Krater. The team also brought in actors Marisa Frankie, Jamie Amos, and Nick Fiore to round out the cast.
Why did Briana Bender want to make this film?
“I championed the story as both a lead actress and producer because I wanted to sink my teeth into this complex character, as well as shed light on this sensitive issue. So, I brought everybody together to make it happen,” explains Briana.
What is Briana Bender’s background?
Briana has been creative since she was a kid, often entertaining her family and neighbors in upstate New York. She participated in youth theater and fostered her skills in singing, dancing, writing stories, and drawing. Her family traveled extensively allowing for cultural exposure in addition to participation in seven language immersion programs abroad.
Briana went on to study French and Environmental Studies at Ithaca College and join the Actors Workshop Ithaca where she trained in the Meisner Technique. She then earned her MA in French Translation at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.

Briana has plans to create more projects and is developing a short film and a feature length film project.
