Who is Buzzworthy?

British director Jack Spring premieres his new black comedy heist feature film, Three Day Millionaire, for American and Canadian audiences. The film, about working-class heroes who dream of a better life and fight to make it happen, is available in North America beginning February 21, 2023, on VOD and digital services, including Amazon Prime, iNDEMAND, Vudu and many other platforms.

What is the premise of Three Day Millionaire?

The film was written by Paul Stephenson and is described as: following three friends returning home to have the ultimate three-day-long celebration after weeks at sea working for Grimsby’s last remaining trawler. However, when they discover the company owner hasn’t been paying the workers and plans to shut the company’s doors forever, they realize they must save their company, save their friends, and most importantly, save their way of life. With the help of an unexpected confidant, the three lads attempt to carry out the greatest heist Grimsby has ever seen — what could possibly go wrong?

Who stars in Three Day Millionaire?

Director Jack Spring pulled together a stellar cast to bring this underdog thrill ride tale, written by Paul Stephenson, to life. Headlining the film is veteran actor Colm Meaney (Con Air, Star Trek), along with rising stars Jonas Armstrong (Robin Hood, Edge of Tomorrow), Robbie Gee (Snatch, Small Axe) and James Burrows (Fighting with My Family, This is England).

What does Jack Spring have to say about his new film?

“For American audiences it’s a real ‘slice’ of the U.K .that they’re not used to seeing. Similar to Trainspotting or Snatch, they’ll see the fabric of a part of the U.K. that isn’t quintessential London. It’s a fast paced, funny, emotional heist film with a bunch of hyper-real characters and an unbelievable soundtrack.”

What else has Jack Spring worked on?

Three Day Millionaire is the second feature film for the talented director, after emerging as the U.K.’s youngest feature film director to earn a theatrical release for his debut comedy, Destinations: Dewsbury. At age 18, Jack convinced investors to trust him with their money after successfully launching an inflatable hot tub rental company. After the theatrical release of his first him, he earned the status of ‘next big things’ in British cinema.

Why did Jack Spring want to make Three Day Millionaire?

The film might be set in Grimsby, but the theme is universal. It’s a tale of an old school town searching for a new identity amongst inflation, government schemes and Brexit, whose hopeful spirit won’t give up.

Jack developed an affinity for Grimsby because his family is from there. He spent a lot of time there as a kid, plus his favorite football (soccer) club comes from Grimsby. When it came time to shoot the film, Jack insisted it be shot entirely on location in the town.
