Who is Buzzworthy?
Actress and Creator Ericka de Alexander launches her original dramedy web series, If The World Was Ending.
The first 3-episodes are streaming now on the YouTube channel @IfTheWorldWasEndingOfficial, with the remaining four coming weekly beginning January 26, 2023.
What is the premise of If The World Was Ending?
The series is described as: following a group of friends in their 20’s, each caught up in their own quarter-life crisis. Tonight, is New Year’s Eve, usually a time to celebrate. Only this year, the disillusioned friends learn the world will end in five days, forcing each of them to either take a chance or forever hold their peace.
With lots of drama to be had, the show is told through a comedic perspective and sprinkled with magical realism as it delves into queer love, heartbreak, and self-loathing.
What else do we know about If The World Was Ending?
Ericka stars in the ensemble cast which also includes Michaela Yelland, Brian Charbonnel, Dara Adedara, and Samantha Aguirre.
Ericka and Samantha also co-direct the project, which comes from Ericka’s Petit Soleil Films production company. Also, along for the ride as executive producers are Michaela Yelland and Paprika Saberhagen; and producers Unique Cooper and Noémie Sornet. Matthew Chasco created the original score.
Why did Ericka de Alexander want to make this series?
“This project is what has kept me alive and given me hope to continue carrying on during a difficult year,” Alexander explains. “I was suffering from a broken heart, the loss of a family member and questioning whether or not this world would be better without me in it. Now, I want others watching to realize there is hope and believe that their future can be whatever they want it to be.”
What is Ericka de Alexander’s background?
From Cuernavaca, Mexico, Ericka made her way to Los Angeles to study at the University of Southern California in the prestigious School of Cinematic Arts, Film & Television Production. She directed and co-wrote the short film, The First Color, about the relationship of a family living with ALS and finding hope which was distributed by The Disorder Channel. She has produced many other shorts that have become successful on the film festival circuit, screening at the Austin Film Festival, San Diego International Film Festival, and Taiwan International Queer Film Festival.
What else is Ericka de Alexander working on?
Ericka is creating a documentary short, The Cleaning Lady, about an undocumented immigrant who inadvertently fragments her family when she comes to the United States. She is also finishing up as a producer on the queer short film, Pride of Place.
