Who is Buzzworthy?
Italian-born film Production Designer Marc de Bertier, who is finding success in America and winning awards internationally for his visually stunning work.
A young talent, Marc gained attention when he took home the ‘Best Production Design’ award at Indie Short Fest, Gold Movie Awards and Caorle Film Festival for his work on the acclaimed fantasy short film, Calamity Falls. Marc is also currently shortlisted for a student BAFTA on the film which revolves around a young girl who finds a portal to an alternate world. Playing with the time period, Marc married the 1960’s with a large Victorian mansion and greenhouse. He worked with Special Effects veteran Cleve Hall to construct the carnivorous plant.
What else do we know about Marc de Bartier?
Marc’s work has been on full display in several festival films. He was the Production Designer on the Caucus Award winning television project, Veil, which required him to fully dressing 14 sets over 6 shoot days in order to bring the post-apocalyptic world to the screen.
Marc designed a cutting-edge atmosphere for the sci-fi drama short, Athena, including custom-made walls with remote lights behind plexiglass in order to create this A.I. computer world atmosphere.
He crafted a retro-futuristic world as Co-Designer on the sci-fi series pilot, Baby I’m Yours, which garnered a ‘Best Drama’ nomination at the College Television Awards.
Marc was born in Italy and raised in Paris, France. He headed to Los Angeles to hone his design talents at Chapman University’s Dodge College of Film and Media Arts. A recent graduate, Marc has added television to his resume, working as the Art Department Assistant on Showtime’s Black Monday, starring Don Cheadle, Andrew Rannells and Regina Hall.
Where can we see Marc de Bertier’s work next?
Marc designed a slick, modern college radio station for the upcoming dramatic feature film, Static, set for release on-demand beginning October 1, 2019. Colorful neon and rigid glass barriers are woven together establishing the radio studio and its surroundings.
