U.K. based American Actress and Creator Gigi Burgdorf launches a virtual voyage with her original short film, Same Time Next Week. After racking up kudos and awards on the festival circuit abroad, the film is premiering in the States as part of the Lady Filmmakers Festival.
What is the premise of Same Time Next Week?
The film is described as: centering around a team of co-workers under siege from corporate and desperate to land their latest account. During a series of high-stakes virtual meetings, one team member discovers an option in his software settings that may be the help they all need to save their jobs.

The film is Gigi’s directorial debut and was created as part of a 48-hour film competition while being locked down during the global pandemic. She filmed it using video conferencing software, and leads the ensemble cast of six American actors all based in London.
How is Same Time Next Week being received?
The film won Best Sci-Fi Short Film at the Screen Power Film Festival in London, two IndieFEST Film Awards including Awards of Merit for Short Film and Women Filmmakers. In addition, it has garnered several other nominations, such as Best Web and New Media at IndieX Film Festival, Best Lockdown Film at Lonely Wolf London International Film Festival and Best Comedy Short at New Renaissance Film Festival.
Why did Gigi Burgdorf want to make this short film?
“Having been in front of the camera for many years, I’ve always wanted to try my hand at directing, and for some reason, the idea of making a film in 48 hours over Zoom during a global pandemic seemed like a good place to start.” Gigi adds, “I’m hoping that future projects won’t have quite as many restrictions, but the resulting film is a bit of comedy sci-fi fun, filmed during the pandemic but entirely not about the pandemic.”
What is Gigi Burgdorf’s background?
Gigi started in New York at the Stella Adler Studio of Acting and earned a BFA from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. Then, she headed to the U.K. for a post-graduate diploma in Classical Acting from the London Academy of Performing Arts and has frequently performed on stages across the U.K. She appeared in the British Independent Film Festival Best Feature Film Winner Night Bus, and been seen on the BBC, Channel 4 and Investigation Discovery. In addition, she voices documentaries, corporate films, video games and commercials.
