Actor Jeff DuJardin, who stars as the Dakota Badlands baddie Marquis de Morès in the historical Western drama series, Elkhorn, on cable channel INSP.

What is the premise of Elkhorn?

The 10-episodes series is set in the 1880’s across the lawless Dakota Badlands. The storyline tracks Theodore Roosevelt as a young man looking to establish himself as a cattleman and build his Elkhorn Ranch. He quickly learns people aren’t so law-abiding and clashes with the notorious French financier Marquis de Morès who uses his wealth, charm, and military mindset to rule the frontier.

What does Jeff DuJardin have to say about playing Marquis de Morès?

“My ancestors emigrated from France to North America not long before the real Marquis de Morès arrived. It was a blast to tap into my French roots and bring the Marquis’ language, accent, and cultural flair back to life. Not only that, but my family has a military background and so I could find ways to personally connect to the character’s passion for strategy and war. The Marquis is the villain of the show, but I tried to find the ways that he justified everything he did in his own mind, how he aligned his actions with his sense of a higher morality. Not to mention, it has always been my dream to act in a Western.”

Jeff can be seen in two celebrated festival indie films, including Silent Life: The Story of the Lady in Black alongside Oscar nominee Terry Moore and Golden Globe nominee Isabella Rosellini, and starring in Immortalist, with Golden-Globe nominees Sherlyn Fenn and Franco Nero. He also starred in the period comedy, The Frankenstein Monster Project, winning Best Actor at San Diego’s Fantastic Horror Festival, and appeared in episodes of True Nightmares, now streaming on Amazon and Tubi.

When did Jeff DuJardin start acting?

A Providence, Rhode Island native, Jeff started acting in school, earning three state drama championships while attending St. Raphael Academy. He earned the John Bowab Merit Scholar three years in a row and the NBC Mike Leonard Award for Acting before graduating from Providence College. He went on to perform at playhouses across New England, including Perishable Theater, Trinity Rep, and The Boston Theater Marathon, before heading to Los Angeles.
