Who is Buzzworthy?

Host, advocate and actress Sequoia Houston launches the all-new Season 2 of her interview podcast, Diversity Be Like. The show turns conversations with industry leaders into deep dives about the structural and cultural systems in America.

What can you expect from Diversity Be Like?

The series is described as: exploring the nuanced dynamics of diversity and what the need for true inclusion looks like, from African American Vernacular English (AAVE) to advertising, economic justice, disparities in treatment and beyond.

The first season focused on equity gaps and those who were able to create their own solutions. Now, for the second season, Sequoia concentrates on our societal systems chatting with inspiring guests about how they unutilized their skill set to identify and implement equitable solutions and opportunities for disenfranchised communities.

Who are some of the Diversity Be Like guests?

Sequoia is talking with a variety of industry leaders in the new season. Some of her guests include Senator Cory McCray of Maryland, Brett Dismuke of AMC’s WeTV and ALLBLK, philanthropist and author Edgar Villanueva, Farrah Wilder of CA Association of Realtors, newspaper publisher Jason Lewis, Journalist Kelvin Washington, and NAACP winning writer/producer/actress Tammi Mac.

Why did Sequoia Houston want to create and host this podcast?

“My goal with the podcast is to help those who might not have access to or feel comfortable with having certain conversations with people who are different from them. Everyone deserves to understand the true impact of bias and why ensuring equity for all is not just the right thing to do, but can indeed be life changing for many.”

What is Sequoia Houston’s background?

In addition to hosting Diversity Be Like, Sequoia is an actress, filmmaker, volunteer and entrepreneur. A classically trained actress, Sequoia’s credits including the feature film drama Legend of Love, SyFy thriller Fire from Below, and comedy Hypnotize Me. She appeared in the stage World Premier of Donald Margulies’ Coney Island Christmas at the Geffen Playhouse, and the comedy web series’ Everything I Did Wrong in My 20s and Shootin’ the Sh*t.

As an entrepreneur, Sequoia created the stock media company, MochaStock.com. In addition, Sequoia is a board member of the Los Angeles Urban League Young Professionals and was a Big Sister with the Big Bro Big Sis of America organization.
