Actress Tyra Colar, who portrays a Stepford-style wife in the new dark comedy feature film, Survival Skills, making its world premiere at the Cinequest Film Festival, where the Silicon Valley’s technology and innovation insects with the arts.
What is the premise of Survival Skills?
Described as: a throwback to police training videos of the 80’s, where the “Narrator” (Stacy Keach) must teach the ropes to the overzealous rookie cop, Jim (Vayu O’Donnell). Only problem — Jim it isn’t so easy to teach. Does he have what it takes to obey, to fulfill, and to live the life of a real-life cop? Or will Jim become a victim of the survival solutions video designed to protect him?
Tyra plays Jenny, the so perfect she’s creepy wife of Jim — think modern day Stepford wife.

“The role allowed me to really explore the dark side of comedy and what it feels like when love fades between two people. The emotional arch of the film helped me bring the character to life,” explains Tyra.

Audiences can watch for Tyra in an episode of Lena Waithe’s upcoming BET series, Twenties. She will be starring in the original sci-fi/horror movie, The Stairs, about a group of hikers who discover a mysterious staircase in the woods. Later this year, Tyra plays a Cop in the original comedy movie, Super Cool.
